This bold reinvention of Tchaikovski’s masterpiece has caused a sensation when it premiered approximately 30 years ago, and has become one of the most successful dance theatre productions of all time.

Exciting, brave, witty and emotional, this even that defined the genre is still the most well-known for replacing the female corps de ballet with a menacing male ensemble that abolished conventional thinking, turning tradition upside down. Initially set in Sadlers Wells in London in 1995, Matthew Bourne’s Swan Lake has captured the world of dance theatre, and has become the longest dance classic, in its full length on the West  and on Broadway. It has performed on stage around the world ever since, gaining over thirty international awards, including the Olivier Award for best dance production and three Tony Awards for best director of a musical, best choreography and best costume design.

Theatrologist, writer, professor at FDU, president of MTF “Vojdan Chernodrinski.


ARTACTUM  is a fairly young organization, operating in the field of cultural projects in Macedonia. Founded by the Macedonian director Ivan Popovski and Tatjana Deshko, theatre producer and organizer, the aim of ARTACTUM is to create as many opportunities as possible for different cultural events in order to wake up the appetite of the artists in Macedonia.
